Video to notes is an AI-powered tool that converts any video into structured, searchable notes. Whether you're watching a tutorial tutorial, attending a recorded lecture, or reviewing a webinar, it extracts the key information and organizes it into purpose-built outputs: structured notes with a summary, key sections and insights, plus a full speaker-labeled transcript for complete reference.

Unlike basic video-to-text tools that produce a wall of raw text, video to notes understands the content's structure. Students get study materials. Content creators get show notes and blog-ready outlines. Researchers get searchable transcripts. And everyone can export to Word, PDF, or Markdown — turning any video into a permanent, organized knowledge asset.

The whole workflow is built for speed: drop a file, wait about thirty seconds, and the notes are ready. No timeline scrubbing, no pausing to type, and no rewatching the same section three times. Your video library becomes as searchable as your documents.

How it works

Video to notes in three steps

No timeline scrubbing. No pausing to type. The whole video to notes pipeline runs in one pass, and most links finish in about half a minute.

Why VideoToNotes

Honest engineering, not pricing tricks

The complaints about other tools are our product spec.

Captions-first saves 90%

When captions exist we fetch them directly instead of billing for speech-to-text. ~$0.002 per video vs $0.10+/hour.

Your video never leaves your browser

Audio is extracted locally via WebAssembly FFmpeg. Only ~6% of the file is ever sent. Privacy by architecture.

Works without subtitles, up to 2 hours

Our ASR with speaker diarization handles caption-less uploads, screen recordings and podcasts.

Exports that don't lose formatting

Word, PDF, Markdown and RAG-ready chunks. Structure survives the trip to Notion and Obsidian.

FAQ

Video to notes FAQ

Is it really free? What's the catch?+
Yes. New accounts get free credits on signup — no credit card required. Every paid plan is fully managed: transcription, AI note generation, and all API keys are included. Credits cost 1 credit per minute of audio processed; use the free daily credits to try it, or upgrade for more volume.
What happens to videos without subtitles?+
They're fully supported. We fall back to state-of-the-art speech-to-text with speaker diarization.
How is this different from NoteGPT / Eightify?+
Unlike NoteGPT and Eightify, we do not support third-party video platform links as that would violate platform terms of service. We focus on processing your own uploaded files with the same quality. We do multi-platform links + file uploads, and high-fidelity exports built for knowledge bases.
Is my video data private?+
For uploads, audio extraction happens in your browser. The original video never leaves your device. Only the compressed audio is processed server-side.
Can I export to Word, PDF, or Markdown?+
Yes. All note formats can be exported. You can also copy any section to your clipboard with one click.
How long can the video be?+
There is no fixed time limit for videos. However, individual video files must not exceed 2 GB in size. Most formats (MP4, MOV, WebM, etc.) compress to well under this limit even for multi-hour recordings.le up to 2 hours per video, which comfortably fits full lectures, conference talks and most webinars. Processing time depends on file length. Most files finish in 1-3 minutes.
Which languages does video to notes support?+
Over 100 languages are auto-detected — no manual selection needed. English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and other major languages get the highest transcription accuracy, and the generated notes follow the language of the source video, so a Japanese lecture produces Japanese notes.
